As of 23 March, Ilona Hommik started as a child protection specialist in Valga Municipality.
Ilona Hommik holds a Bachelor of Social Work and Rehabilitation Management from Pärnu College of the University of Tartu and is currently studying Social Protection at Tallinn University, specialising in child protection.
Working in the social field, she has been involved with children and supporting their well-being. Her previous work experience includes the Kurepesa Family Centre in Valga, where she contributed to children's well-being and a safe environment. In addition, she has gained experience in teaching and guiding children in the coping learning programme at the Maarjamaa State School in Valga Jaanikese.
These experiences have given her a multi-faceted understanding of the needs of children and young people in different settings and have supported her ability to recognise both the need and the strengths of the child.
„In my work, I believe it is important to build a trusting and honest relationship, to notice the child and to understand their individual needs. Every child needs a safe and supportive adult to help them develop and move forward in life. I also believe it is important to work together with different parties to provide the best possible support for the child and the family,“ Ilona says, describing her working principles.
Welcome to the team, Ilona!
