Population events in Valga municipality in 2025

According to the Population Register, the population of Valga municipality as of 01.01.2026 was 14813, of whom 7 173 were men and 7 640 women. A year earlier, on 01.01.2025, Valga municipality had 14919 inhabitants (7 208 men and 7 711 women), which means that the number of inhabitants decreased by 106 people.

Statistics on births and deaths

In 2025, 67 new births were registered in Valga municipality - 29 boys and 38 girls, which is 4 births less than in 2024. No twins were born in 2025.

25 children were born out of wedlock, 31 births were registered by paternity and 11 births were registered by a single mother. The names of the children were varied - among girls, MIA was given on three occasions and AMELIA on two occasions, while there were no first names for boys.

In 2025, 231 persons (115 males and 116 females) died, which is 4 more deaths than in 2024.

Changes of residence and migration

633 persons registered their place of residence in Valga municipality, of whom:

In 2025, a total of 2147 different civil status and population records were carried out in Valga Municipality.

There were 50 marriages during the year, with July (10 marriages) and August (9 marriages) being the most popular months.

For the first time, 38 men and 30 women married. In addition, 9 men married for the second time and three men for the third time. Of the women, 18 married for the second time, one married for the fourth time and one married for the fifth time. The youngest marriages were between an 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man. The oldest married man was aged 70 and the oldest married woman 68.

Divorces and other acts

There were 24 divorces in 2025, which is 6 more than in 2024.

181 population register extracts were issued, 68 certificates of previous family events and 848 applications for residence registration were submitted.

At the request of the owner, 150 applications were made to cancel residence data.
