Travel on Valga's intra-city bus routes
As of 1 March, bus travel on Valga's urban lines will be subject to a fee, similar to the county line. The fares are the same as for the county lines and you can pay for your ticket either with a single card or in cash. Children, elderly and disabled persons and persons entitled to free travel under the Public Transport Act of Valga municipality are entitled to free travel.
If you pay with a single card, the price per ticket is €1.5. In addition, you can buy a season ticket for either 1 or 30 days. A day ticket costs €4.5 and a monthly ticket €25. If you pay cash, the price per ticket is €2.
A single ticket can be used for up to 1.5 hours from validation. The day ticket price is valid for 24 hours from the first validation. The monthly ticket is valid for 30 days from the first validation.
The right to travel free of charge is granted to the following residents of Valga municipality:
- persons up to and including the age of 19 and persons aged 63 and over;
- people with moderate, severe and profound disabilities;
- people with partial or no work capacity;
- an accompanying person of a disabled person up to and including the age of 16 or a person with a profound disability, if the accompanying person is boarding the bus or coach with the disabled person;
- an accompanying person with a severe or profound disability if the accompanying person boards the bus or coach with a person with a severe or profound disability.

Benefits without a travel card and how to prove them
According to the Public Transport Act, a child who has not reached the age of seven by 1 October of the current school year, a child whose school attendance has been postponed, a person with a disability up to the age of 16, a person aged 16 and over with a severe disability, a person with a severe visual impairment, a person accompanying a person with a severe or profound visual impairment or a guide or assistance dog accompanying a person with a disability can travel free of charge and without a travel card (shared card).
In this case, you can prove the existence of the travel allowance by presenting the following documents:
- an identity document;
- with a student card;
- a certificate from an out-of-school counselling team to the effect that a recommendation has been made under the Basic School and Upper Secondary School Act to postpone the start of the child's compulsory schooling;
- any other document, electronic means or circumstance that allows the existence of a travel advantage to be inferred.
Only:
- a pension certificate issued on the basis of § 35 of the National Pension Insurance Act, indicating the degree of disability and the duration of disability;
- a disability card issued on the basis of § 23 of the Social Benefits for Disabled Persons Act;
- in the case of a person with severe visual impairment, a certificate issued by the Social Insurance Board.
If the passenger is in possession of a document certifying entitlement to the discount, he or she must obtain a ticket at a price of zero euro, which will be issued in the form of a paper ticket if the discount is not shown on the ticket.
Travel concession linked to the possession of a travel card in Valga municipality
A driving card and personalisation is required if the person is registered in Valga municipality according to the Estonian population register and is:
- up to the age of 19 or older than 63 (inclusive);
- people with moderate, severe and profound disabilities (necessary to have the travel concession added to the collective card at the municipal office.);
- people with partial or no work capacity (necessary to have the travel concession added to the collective card at the municipal office.).
Transferring the travel discount to the travel card on Valga city lines
Residents of Valga municipality have the opportunity to apply discounts to their travel card (shared card) for travel on urban buses at Valga municipality government and social work service building. Please bring your ID-card, travel card and a document certifying the benefits (document certifying moderate, severe or profound disability; document certifying partial or no work capacity).
At the Valga Municipality Government, Puiestee 8, it is possible to transfer disability and work-related benefits to the travel card at the following times:
- Mondays 9.00-16.00;
- Thursdays 9.00-16.00.
At the Valga Municipality Social Work Service building at Kungla 12, it is possible to apply disability and work-related benefits to the travel card at the following times:
- Wednesdays 16.00-18.00;
- Fridays 10.00-12.00.
The free right to travel is available to residents of Valga municipality registered in the population register who are aged up to 19 years and persons aged 63 years and over (inclusive).
