Valga Gümnaasiumi Alumni Association V. Pille Olesk was awarded the Pennonen Scholarship.

On 12 January, at the Valga Gymnasium birthday celebration, teacher Pille Olesk was awarded the V. Valga Gymnasium Alumni Award. Pennonen scholarship of 500 euros to support her continued inspirational work for students, colleagues and the community at large, contributing to the development of the school and education in the future.

Pille Olesk has worked at Valga Gümnaasium for more than 20 years, fulfilling the role of a responsible project and career manager, class teacher and leader of several international and in-school projects. Her activities are varied and wide-ranging.


Pille Oleski's work has been noticed and recognised at school, county, national and international level. Among her other achievements, she has been, for example, Primary School Teacher of the Year 2015 (invited to the President's Reception), Valga City Teacher of the Year 2011, Stockholm #FirstGeneration Global Goals Forum - Estonian Representative and Recognition 2015, Valga Gymnasium Teacher of the Year 2011, etc.


Pille Olesk develops students' skills and worldview, supports the sustainability of the school, inspires colleagues and the community, and combines local heritage with international educational opportunities. The award of the Vikki Pennonen Scholarship to Pille Olesk is not only a recognition of her outstanding work to date, but also an important investment in the future of education in Valga Gymnasium and the wider region. Pille's work has consistently focused on innovation, international cooperation and broadening the worldview of students, the impact of which the scholarship will allow to be further extended.

The NGO Valga Gümnaasiumi Alumni Council was established to revitalise the activities of the Valga Gümnaasiumi Alumni Council in summer 2017. The NGO Valga Gümnaasiumi Vilistlaskogu was created to bring together Valga Gümnaasiumi alumni, to carry on and promote the traditions and spirit of the gymnasium. In 2023, it was decided to start awarding the V. V. Gymnasium Gymasium Award. Hille-Made Varul will be the first recipient. The Alumni Council invites all Valga Gymnasium alumni to join and contribute to the school's development.
