The marriage may be dissolved in a matrimonial property regime by mutual agreement between the spouses, provided that both spouses are resident in Estonia. The divorce shall be final not earlier than one month and not later than three months after the filing of the divorce petition. Divorce in Valga municipality administration

Both spouses are required to be present in order to file a petition for divorce If one of the spouses is unable to appear in person at the registry office to file a joint petition for good cause, he or she may file a separate notarised petition:

Documents needed:

  • a document certifying the marriage (if there is no entry in the population register).
  • identity documents

Once the divorce has been registered, the official will issue a certificate of divorce to the petitioners at their request.

  • Issue of a certificate of divorce - €20.
