In Valga municipality, support for sports activities is provided in accordance with. on the rules governing support for sporting activities Support is available for the organisation of sporting events, support for the activities of sports clubs, capital grants, coaches' salaries, and co-financing or co-financing of projects.

Support for the organisation of sporting events

Support for the organisation of sporting events is granted to sports clubs and non-profit-making associations developing sporting activities for the organisation of sporting and popular sporting events.

Grant applications must be submitted to the municipality by 20 February (for events in the second quarter), 20 May (for events in the third quarter), 21 August (for events in the fourth quarter) and 20 November (for events in the first quarter).

Ineligible costs for the organisation of a sports event are:

  1. advertising and media costs;
  2. transport costs;
  3. catering costs;
  4. accommodation costs;
  5. the costs of the entertainment programme;
  6. costs not directly linked to the activities of the project, including the beneficiary's day-to-day administrative, transport, communication, management and office costs.

Own and/or co-financing must be at least 20% of the total project amount.

The maximum amount of the grant is €1000.

Operating grant for sports clubs

The operating subsidy for sports clubs is allocated to activate the activities of sports clubs and to actively involve the residents of Valga municipality in sports activities.

Support is granted to sports clubs operating in Valga municipality that do not have youth training groups.

The maximum amount of support per sports club is €1500 for one calendar year.

To receive the grant, the sports club submits a formal application to the municipality by 31 January.

Contribution to the costs of sports clubs

The grant for the main costs of sports clubs is aimed at sports clubs that have training groups for young people and are coached by professionally qualified coaches.

The allowance is allocated to cover the costs of supporting the daily training activities in proportion to the number of months of participation paid by the young person or his/her legal representative.

You can apply twice a year. To be eligible for the grant, a sports club must submit an application to the municipality by 10 June (for the December to May training period) and 10 December (for the June to November training period).

Allowance for the remuneration of coaches

Coaches' allowances are granted to sports clubs that have training groups for young people and are coached by professionally qualified coaches.

Support for the remuneration of coaches is intended to cover the labour costs of coaches instructing young people at preparatory, training and mastery levels.

Grant applications are submitted to Valga Municipality (hereinafter the Municipality) by 20 February (2nd quarter), 20 May (3rd quarter), 21 August (4th quarter) and 20 November (1st quarter).

Contribution to the co-financing and/or co-financing of projects

Throughout the year, sports clubs and non-profit-making associations that develop sports activities can submit a free application to the municipality to cover their own funding and/or co-funding for projects that have received funding.

Grants may not be applied for for projects and activities that have been completed at the time of submission of the application and that have been either funded or supported by the municipality.

You can apply for a grant up to the amount of the co-financing required for the funded project in the SPD.

Support for the organisation of Estonian championships or international sports events

Support for the organisation of Estonian championships or international sporting events is a support for the organisation of Estonian championships or international sporting events in Valga municipality for the calendar year following the year of application.

The applicant's own contribution and/or co-financing must be at least 40% of the total amount of the sports event.

The maximum grant per event is €5,000.

Grant applications must be submitted to the municipality by 20 November at the latest.

Activity Allowance for amateur athletes

Tippsportlase tegevustoetust is granted through a sports club to an individual athlete whose place of residence is in Valga municipality and who is a member of the national team of the Republic of Estonia in the U21, U23 or adult class.

Up to €2,000 per athlete per calendar year.

To receive the grant, the sports club submits a formal application to the municipality by 31 January.

Support for the representative team

The grant will be awarded to a sports club participating in a sport included in the programme of the Olympic Games and:

  1.   have been active in Valga municipality for at least 1 year prior to the year of application;
  2.   participates in the highest adult league, second division in terms of strength, third division in terms of strength and/or international championships in Estonia.

Support is granted to a maximum of three teams per calendar year.

Up to €10 000 per team for one season.

To receive the grant, the sports club must submit a formal application to the municipality by 30 September.

Sporting Achievement Award

The prize for sporting achievement is a prize awarded to a team, athlete or coach from Valga municipality for achieving 1st - 3rd place in an international championship in a sport on the Olympic programme.

The proposal for the award can be submitted to the municipality in free form throughout the year.
