Rescue Board deminers and assistant deminers will be clearing Valga County of explosives between 24 and 26 April. The demining operations will be carried out in cooperation with the Valga War Museum. All explosives found and destroyed will help to make the surrounding environment safer.
During these operations, pre-defined areas of land will be inspected with the aim of identifying and removing potential explosive ordnance and other explosive items. Any dangerous finds will be destroyed on-site or transported to a designated disposal site. During this period, there may be an increased presence of special vehicles in the area, and more noise than usual may be heard as a result of demolition work.
„Dangerous finds often lie hidden for years in sheds, garages or forests, without people being aware of their actual danger. If someone has found a suspicious item in a forest, attic or body of water, be sure to report it to the emergency number 112. Under no circumstances should you attempt to move a suspicious item yourself. You should call the emergency number even if you suspect an explosive device. No fee will be charged for a call-out. There will also be no penalty for reporting a dangerous object found in your home, notes Marti, head of the South Estonian bomb squad. Seaside.
