In connection with the night-time events, where attack drones entered Estonian airspace due to the Russian-Ukrainian hostilities and electronic interference, we remind you how and where to report in such a situation. Operational and correct information exchange helps the country to resolve the situation more quickly.

When to call 112 (Emergency Number)?

Only call 112 if there is an immediate threat to life, health, or property.

  • You see a drone falling or exploding.
  • A fire or destruction has occurred due to a drone.
  • Someone has been injured.
  • Noticed suspicious activity or individuals who might be involved in operating drones from the ground.

When to call 1247 (State Information Line)?

Dial 1247 if you wish to pass on information or observations that do not require the immediate intervention of rescuers or an ambulance.

  • You heard or saw a drone flying past, but there was no immediate danger or accident.
  • You wish to ask for general information about the current situation or imposed restrictions.
  • You wish to report found drone parts or debris that are not smoking and do not pose an immediate threat (stay away from them!).

Important reminders:

Do not touch drone wreckage! If you find a drone or its parts on the ground, stay at least 100 metres away from them. They may contain explosives or toxic components. Report the find by calling 1247 (or 112 if the item is obviously dangerous/smoking).

  • Stay indoors. If you hear the drone buzzing or air defence activity, go indoors and stay away from windows.
  • Trust official channels. Follow the official information from Valga Municipality, the Police and Border Guard Board, and the Rescue Board. Do not spread unverified rumours on social media.
  •  If you find drone debris, do not share the location of the object on social media – this will prevent crowds of onlookers from gathering at the scene and reduce the risk to other people.

We live in an age of crises and must be prepared to deal with various unexpected events. The more people who can act independently and consciously in different crisis situations, the more lives we can save, prevent damage to health, the environment and property, and support those in need.
