We visited Võru to learn about crisis preparedness, crisis management, and communication. We honestly admit that we have a lot to learn from other municipalities and greatly value the experiences of others.
We discussed a number of practical issues:
- How are the sub-authorities notified?
- How quickly and through which channels are the heads of the sub-agencies brought together?
- How many generators are there, where are they and who maintains them?
- How can the internet be guaranteed when electricity and communications are down?
- How is a water company prepared for a crisis?
- How is a crisis meeting run?
There are many issues and fortunately we are starting to work together on a broader basis within the municipality to strengthen crisis preparedness.
Many thanks to the city of Võru for hosting us and for sharing your experiences!
