A lost drone hit the chimney of the Auvere power plant

25 March at 3:43 am, a drone struck the chimney of Auvere power plant. No one was injured in the incident.

The drone entered Estonian airspace from Russian airspace. Deminers from the Rescue Board are operating on site, the State Prosecutor's Office is leading the proceedings, and the Internal Security Service is investigating the incident.

„According to current information, the drone was not aimed at Estonia. Initial actions are currently being taken, and the investigation will clarify the exact circumstances,“ said State Prosecutor General Astrid Asi. 

According to Enefit Power's initial assessment, the power plant has no immediate damage, and the incident will not have a significant impact on the Estonian electricity system. 

Ukraine attacked the port of Ust-Luga with drones last night. On the evening of March 24 and the night of March 25, Ukrainian drone attacks were reported in the Leningrad region. 

„These are the effects of Russia's full-scale war of aggression. We can expect to see more such incidents,“ stated the Director General of the Security Police, Margo Palloson. 

Please can everyone who might have spotted the drone share the information with the Internal Security Service at . Please do not come to the scene and keep your distance if you see drone debris, as it may contain explosive material. Please report any debris by calling 112. 

A crashed drone was also reported in Latvia, in the village of Dobročina.

  • If you hear a siren or receive an EE-ALARM notification about an air threat with an order to take shelter, you must take the warning seriously and immediately seek shelter indoors.
  • The best place to shelter is the nearest room without windows. In a war situation, a cellar or another room with strong walls.

If you find a suspicious attacking drone, act the same way as when you find a potential explosive device:

  • Do not go near your drone.
  • Call the emergency services immediately on 112.
  • Move to a safe distance.
  • Warn any people in the vicinity and do not let anyone near the found item.
  • Don't share its location on social media.

  • Even if there is no official warning, any suspicious flying object must be assessed for air threat and handled with caution.
  • If you hear or see rockets, drones or explosions, first ensure your own safety and, if necessary, move quickly to the nearest indoor space, as low down as possible, away from doors and windows.
