An environmental permit gives a person the right to carry out one or more of the following activities at the same time:

  • specific water use;
  • the transfer of pollutants from a stationary source to ambient air;
  • waste management;
  • extraction of mineral resources;
  • radiation.

The existence of an environmental permit for the above activities is required in the cases provided for by law. Environmental permits are issued by Environment Agency

The Environmental Board forwards the application for an environmental permit to the local authority where the proposed activity is to be carried out for its opinion, once it has been determined that the application complies with the requirements.
