Monika Rogenbaum, mayor of the Valga municipality, said she was convinced that the Buratino nursery school would receive project support. „The building obviously needs modernisation and modern solutions and now the financial opportunity for the renovation is finally there. Before the Buratino kindergarten, attention and funding went to the youth centre, the music school, the Lüllemäe school and the Valga swimming pool, for example, but now it is the turn of the biggest kindergarten in the municipality. Buratino kindergarten has as many as ten groups with a total of 178 children. This kindergarten is very much appreciated by parents, Buratino also has many friends and supporters, and now we all have reason to rejoice together that a significant renovation of the dear old building will soon begin. In the long term, such renovations will also bring savings to the municipal budget, as heating costs will be reduced,“ said the Mayor.

The chairman of the Valga Municipal Council, Lauri Drubinš, also confirmed that the largest kindergarten in the city of Valga has been waiting for years for its time to be reconstructed. „I am glad that with the funding from this project we can improve the daily conditions for our children and teachers in the beloved Buratino kindergarten. As a result of the project, the indoor climate of the building will be significantly improved, creating an even better learning environment for the children. It is a great pleasure to receive a positive decision on the funding in the year when the nursery celebrates its 60th anniversary. anniversary. I would like to thank the municipality and the nursery staff for the positive project application and wish them all the best for a smooth construction“, said the council president.

The next step will be to call for tenders for the design works, which is expected to happen in early 2026.
