Tallinn City Theatre "The Great Flood" - Valga Cultural Centre

10 September 18.0021.00

The Great Flood is a comedy of life based on etudes that dissects our most mundane, but also our greatest concerns. How do you create a home that feels like home, and how do you keep your dreams from being drowned in the bathwater?

Director Priit Võigemast: „We all start with hope. We all start out with dreams of love, happiness, a career, children, and finally peace, only to discover, unexpectedly even to ourselves, that we are buried under a huge layer of misery. We scrabble for a living, trying to stay afloat somehow, and forget what started it all in the first place. Some cope better, some break. It sounds tragic, of course, but I also like to see the comic potential here. In this production, we've looked for familiar, everyday moments. We've compressed them and stretched them out, mixed them together and amplified them. We've tried to get to the bottom of why this everyday nothingness is still so immersive.“
