10 December: nationwide hazard warning test takes place 

The Rescue Board tests Wednesday 10 December hazard warning system EE-ALARM. On that day, all alert channels, including sirens (see siren locations below). 

  • Around noon sent to mobile phones Text message (SMS) with advance notice of the test. 
  • Range 15.00-15.10 notifications are sent Estonian app and "Get ready!" via mobile apps. 
  • Range 15.00-15.10 see ERR channels (ETV, ETV+, ERR.ee website and „ERR News“ app) BTEXT on the hazard warning test. 
  • Range 15.00-15.10 will be launched at sirens

NOTE: The SMS is sent once only as a pre-alert and will not be sent again when other channels are launched. 

Important to know: 

  • Before you get tested, tell your loved ones, especially children and the elderly, that there is no real risk and it is a test. 
  • To receive alerts via mobile apps, download the Estonia app or „Be prepared!“. mobile app and also enable notifications. EE-ALARM is always the sender of both the alert and the SMS. 
  • For more information on the EE-ALARM alert system, visit www.olevalmis.ee. You can also listen to the sound of the siren. 
  • Sirens are for people outside and may not be heard indoors. Other channels are provided for this purpose. 
  • On the day of the test, continue with your normal life. 
  • Help us improve the hazard warning system: after testing, give your feedback on www.kriis.ee. This will help the rescue services to assess the overall performance of the system and to identify possible bottlenecks. 

Why do we need to test? 

In a real risk situation, an immediate hazard warning system must be in place. It is important to check the reliability of the system and to make sure that the improvements and upgrades made in the meantime are working. The Rescue Services will test the different channels of the notification system, either together or separately, more frequently in the future. 

Sirens can be heard in the following settlements: Ahtme, Haapsalu, Jõgeva, Jõhvi, Keila, Kohtla-Järve, Kuressaare, Kärdla, Maardu, Narva, Paide, Paldiski, Pärnu, Põlva, Rakvere, Rapla, Sillamäe, Tallinn and its surrounding densely populated areas (including Tabasalu, Harkujärve area, Saue and Laagri, Peetri alevik, Saku, Viimsi municipality), Tapa, Tartu, Valga, Viljandi, Võru.
