We honestly admit that we have a lot to learn from other municipalities and greatly value the experiences of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We discussed a number of practical issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How are the sub-authorities notified?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How quickly and through which channels are the heads of the sub-agencies brought together?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How many generators are there, where are they and who maintains them?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can the internet be guaranteed when electricity and communications are down?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How is a water company prepared for a crisis?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How is a crisis meeting run?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many issues and fortunately we are starting to work together on a broader basis within the municipality to strengthen crisis preparedness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to the city of V\u00f5ru for hosting us and for sharing your experiences!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Valga Municipality Mart Kase, the representative of the Karula Volunteer Fire Brigade Association and the Chairman of the Council of the Estonian Salvation Union Veiko Pormeister, the representative of the Karula Volunteer Fire Brigade Association and the Vice-Chairman of the Community and Security Committee of Valga Municipality Mihkel Maks, Marianne Mett, Public Relations Specialist of V\u00f5ru City Government, Liisi Kondratjeva, Advisor of V\u00f5ru City Council, Kalvi K\u00f5va, Mayor of V\u00f5ru, Imre Mokrik, Deputy Mayor of V\u00f5ru, Varbo Maandi, Crisis Prevention Coordinator of V\u00f5ru City Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crisis committee of Valga municipality will meet at the end of March and we will start to work more systematically on crisis preparedness issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to V\u00f5ru for hosting - we will definitely come again!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We visited V\u00f5ru to learn about crisis preparedness, crisis management, and communication.
