Although some water bodies may still be covered by seemingly thick ice, as the measurements show, in reality the conditions have become very bad and in a few days there have been several accidents with tragic consequences,\u201d explains Viktor Saaremets, Deputy Director General of the Rescue Board. The weather forecast for the next few days does not favour an improvement in the ice conditions either, quite the contrary.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the weekend, two people drowned when they sank through the ice in Harju County, both men who had gone fishing. On Monday, a 59-year-old man drowned when he went fishing in L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Viru County. The search is currently on for two more men who went fishing in Harjumaa.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rescuers also had to go out on several occasions last weekend and at the start of the new week to call out young people and children on the ice. \u201cNo fish or social media photo is worth more than a life or a damaged health,\u201d Saaremets warns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The water under the ice is cold - just a few degrees above zero. An adult can last ten minutes in water this cold, a child even less.
