From March 17th, Estonia's respected education leader Marjeta Venno has taken on the leadership of Valga P\u00f5hikool, advising and coordinating educational and upbringing work. Venno will serve as acting head teacher at the school for three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marjeta Venno has dedicated many years to the creation and development of Tartu Private School (TERA), where she has been an innovative teacher as well as a school leader and school administrator. In addition, she is a renowned coach-supervisor in Estonia and a practitioner-teacher in the educational innovation curriculum at the University of Tartu. For the last one and a half years, Venno worked at the Ministry of Education and Research as Head of Curriculum, contributing to the development of Estonian education at national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Venno, his desire to contribute to Valga's educational life came after his first meeting with the local people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201eA few months ago, when I first came to Valga municipality, I sensed a strong desire to turn Valga from a \u201emunicipality\u201c into a magical land. It made me want to be part of this change, because I sincerely believe that the best way to foresee the future is to create it together. That's why I decided to join hands with the leaders of Valga municipality and contribute to the development of Valga Primary School by applying my knowledge and skills in teamwork, organisational culture and school management,\u201c said Venno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to her daily work with teachers, support specialists and parents at Valga Primary School, Venno works closely with Jelena, the head of education in the municipality, and Mart Kase, the mayor of the municipality. Together, they are already looking ahead to the next school year, with the aim of working together to make learning and teaching in Valga even more meaningful, modern and effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the coming months, the aim is to support the school family in successfully completing the school year, to strengthen teamwork and to create a supportive and collaborative atmosphere in the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the beginning of 2026, the current headmaster of Valga Basic School and Valga Priimetsa School, Tiit Tammaru, continued as headmaster of Valga Priimetsa School. The Valga Basic School was then run under collective management, led by the school's head teachers. In early 2026, the Valga Municipality organised a competition for the post of Director of Valga Primary School, but it did not produce a suitable result. It was therefore decided to bring in an experienced head of education on an interim basis to support the development of the school and prepare the next steps in its governance.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
