What is victim assistance?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Victim assistance is a free public social service aimed at maintaining or improving the victim's ability to support himself\/herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victim support workers provide emotional support and information on how to get help. They also provide guidance and assistance in dealing with the state and local authorities and other agencies providing services needed by the victim.

Anyone who has been a victim of neglect or abuse, physical, mental or sexual violence has the right to seek help. Anyone who has suffered harm or suffering can get counselling, regardless of whether the perpetrator of the harm has come to light and whether criminal proceedings have been brought against him or her.

Contact a victim support worker if you want to talk about your problem, feel you need support to resolve your concerns or want to find a way out of your situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When to contact victim support?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is worth contacting victim support if you or someone you love has been a victim of neglect, abuse, physical, mental or sexual violence. You can also seek help if you have suffered harm or suffered injury, regardless of whether the perpetrator of the harm has come forward and whether a criminal case has been brought against him or her. You do not have to have committed a crime to get help - you can also turn to victim support if you have witnessed someone else being mistreated or if you have had an accident and do not know where to turn for help.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

To help you cope in these situations, you need emotional support, a listening ear and information about the help you can get from different officials and agencies. What services and support are available to you from Victim Support?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can get help from a victim support worker to. psychological counselling<\/a>, request compensation to crime victims<\/a>, get support MARAC network<\/a> or restorative justice<\/a> in carrying out the principles. Restorative justice conflict resolution involves bringing the parties to a conflict or offence together with a neutral mediator, giving everyone a chance to talk about what happened, their thoughts, feelings and needs, and to discuss how to make amends and agree on what can be done to prevent such situations from happening again. In addition, victim support workers help to carry out both hosting service<\/a> or to make arrangements to make up for the harm you have suffered as a result of the crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
